Meet CCA . . .

Established in 1924, Central City Association of Los Angeles (CCA) is a business membership organization representing over 450 businesses, trade associations and non-profits employing over 300,000 people in Los Angeles County. CCA, L.A.’s premier business advocacy leader shaping public policy on a broad range of issues, is the leading architect of the Downtown Renaissance.

In 1998, CCA formed the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID), which works in conjunction with CCA to market and revitalize Downtown L.A. CCA’s strong policy leadership, combined with the DCBID’s economic development and marketing resources, have proven to be an incredibly powerful team.

Building on a strategic vision and solid relationships with key business and government leaders, CCA has taken the lead on issues from development reform to affordable housing to homelessness. While CCA is known as the Voice of Business in City Hall on a wide range of issues, it is particularly well known for its ground-breaking work on developing the Adaptive Reuse Ordinance (ARO) that allows the conversion of vacant commercial buildings into residential space. Since the law was passed in 1999, ARO has resulted in the development of thousands of rental and for-sale residential units in Downtown’s stunning urban core and an unprecedented revitalization.

For the first time in many decades, Downtown Los Angeles is fast becoming a 24/7 community, thriving at the confluence of the region’s business heart, transportation hub, cultural icons, and world class entertainment venues!
