CENTRAL CITY ASSOCIATION OF LOS ANGELES ENDORSES JOE BUSCAINO FOR LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCIL

Special Runoff Election for District 15 to be held on January 17, 2012

Los Angeles (November 28, 2011) – The Central City Association (CCA) of Los Angeles, L.A.'s premier business advocacy group, today announced it has endorsed Joe Buscaino for his first term representing District 15 on the Los Angeles City Council.

Buscaino was one of two candidates who won the most votes during the special district election on November 8. A special runoff election will be held on January 17, 2012. Council District 15 stretches from the Simon Rodia Towers in Watts to the historic Point Fermin Lighthouse on the cliffs of San Pedro and includes the communities of Harbor City, Harbor Gateway and Wilmington.

"As a business advocacy group focused on Los Angeles, we support leaders who can bring people together and deliver a balanced approach to the issues facing our city. We are proud to endorse Joe and look forward to working with him on the City Council," said Tim McOsker, Chair, CCA and Partner, Mayer Brown LLP.

A native of Southern California, Buscaino has lived in the 15th district his entire life. He has been with the Los Angeles Police Department since 1996, working both patrol and administrative assignments including the Office of Chief of Police, West Traffic Division and Emergency Operations Division. He is currently assigned to the Harbor Area as a Senior Lead Officer.

In this community, Buscaino serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles Harbor and the San Pedro YWCA’s Racial Justice Committee, and is active with Mary Star of the Sea Parish and various Italian American organizations. He also established LAPD's first Teen Community Police Advisory Board, and has been appointed to the advisory council for the Los Angeles Watts Summer Games.
