Senate Bill 50
We will be updating members on the latest version of Senator Scott Wiener’s transit upzoning bill, SB 50. CCA endorsed last year’s bill, SB 827, but the bill failed in its first committee meeting in early 2018. SB 50 responds to many of the critiques from SB 827 and seeks to strike a balance between creating much-needed housing in transit-adjacent and jobs-rich areas, while preserving existing “naturally occurring affordable housing” and minimizing impacts on sensitive communities.
Special Guest: Shane Phillips, CCA
Citywide Design Guidelines Update
The City of LA is planning an update to its Citywide Design Guidelines, last updated in 2011. The guidelines are intended “to streamline the development review process and elevate the design quality of our City’s public realm,” and examples of topics to be covered include the public right-of-way, site planning, and building placement. Members are invited to share their feedback with City Planning to ensure that the updated design guidelines improve outcomes for Downtown and the entire city.
