Everyone Works

With a broad coalition of local non-profits and public agencies, Goodwill Southern California is leading the “Everyone Works” Campaign - a collective commitment to provide employment to 15,000 people experiencing homelessness in the Los Angeles region by 2022. The collaborative and its partners are engaging housing and workforce providers, as well as securing commitments from large employers and other key stakeholders. Join us to learn more about this ambitious workforce development initiative.

Special Guests: Simon Lopez, Goodwill Southern California

Processes and Procedures Ordinance

Come hear about the Processes and Procedures Ordinance, intended to improve accessibility to the Zoning Code by making it easier to use and understand. The proposed ordinance would overhaul the way the Department of City Planning reviews and acts upon applications and requests, and would cut the number of review procedures in half, while still maintaining long-standing opportunities for participation.

Special Guest: Tom Rothmann and Bonnie Kim, Department of City Planning

Opportunity Zone Investing

Dan Weinstein, Managing Partner at CTI Housing, will discuss the benefits of investing in Federal Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZ’s). Authorized by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, this legislation allows for the deferral of all or part of a capital gain that would otherwise be includable in income. Dan will discuss CTI’s business model, current projects in the Company’s pipeline, the incentives and tax incentives currently being offered to investors, and the anticipated impact on capital deployed to underserved communities.

Special Guest: Dan Weinstein, CTI Housing
