SB 743 Implementation: LOS to VMT Transition

The City of LA has updated how it measures traffic impacts in accordance with rules established by SB 743, approved in 2013. Future development projects will be required to measure traffic impacts using the vehicle-miles traveled (VMT) metric, replacing level of service (LOS) in most cases. This change is expected to favor infill development in dense, transit-oriented communities like Downtown, and is intended to better incorporate the needs of all road users. This proposal was recently approved by the City Council. Join us to learn how it will impact new development.

Special Guest: Rubina Ghazarian, City Planning

Music Center Plaza Renovation

This August, the Music Center will reopen its plaza following a $41M dollar renovation. The 53- year-old plaza has been updated into a welcoming outdoor urban space for all to enjoy. The plaza will be home to free and low-cost events and activities that showcase the talents of the many artists in Los Angeles. CCA members are invited to hear more about this exciting new public square.

Special Guest: Leticia Buckley, The Music Center

LA Streetcar Update

The LA Streetcar is a pending project in DTLA.  The LA Streetcar will tie together downtown’s neighborhoods, destinations, and regional transit options. The approximately four-mile line will run frequently and connect riders to South Park, the Financial District and Historic Core, Grand Park and the Civic Center, the Fashion District, the Convention Center and LA Live, and much more. Join us to hear about different strategies to complete it including a P3 strategy.

Main & Spring Forward Update

As part of the Main & Spring Forward project, a collaboration between LADOT and Council District 14, Main Street will soon be reorganized to include a two-way protected bike lane on the left side of the street, from 9th St to Cesar Chavez Ave. This will complement the recently installed protected bike lane on Spring St, and help improve safety and efficiency for all users.
