Treasures

Treasures of Los Angeles is CCA's signature event, celebrating the diversity, strength and excellence of Los Angeles. More than 1,200 of our city's top business, elected and civic leaders come together to honor those who have made exceptional contributions to our city. This year, our honorees represent the best of Los Angeles. They are dedicated to enhancing the vibrancy of the city, keeping our communities safe and inspiring Angelenos to dream big.

Past Treasures awardees include Los Angeles pioneers such as: Tim Gunn, Author, Executive and Project Runway Co-Host; Eli Broad, Business Leader and Philanthropist; Tim Leiweke, Business Leader; Sherry Lansing, Actress and Film Studio Executive; Andy Garcia, Award-Winning Actor; Yang Ho Cho, International Business Titan; Magic Johnson, NBA leader and Urban Innovator; Ray Charles, Extraordinary Musician and Entertainer; and Rudolph Marcus, Nobel Laureate.

Council President Herb J. Wesson, Jr. (Emcee)

Council President Herb J. Wesson, Jr. (Emcee)

Herb J. Wesson, Jr. has served as the President of the Los Angeles City Council since November 2011 and has represented Council District 10 since 2005. Wesson is the first African-American to hold the position of Council President in the city’s history and has been re-elected three times to lead the city’s legislative body. During his tenure as Council President, Wesson has presided over monumental policy initiatives making Los Angeles a better place to live, work and raise a family. Not only have local policy initiatives —which include pension reform and consolidating city elections to increase voter turnout— positively affected local residents, but in many cases the city’s actions have spurred state and national response and served as a model for similar policies.
