LOS ANGELES (May 17, 2018) -- Today, Central City Association (CCA) celebrated its 24th Annual Treasures of Los Angeles at JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE. CCA recognized four distinguished honorees who showcase the best of Los Angeles. They are dedicated to enhancing the vibrancy of the city, keeping communities safe and inspiring Angelenos to dream big. The 2018 honorees are: Janet Evans, Olympic Gold Medalist Swimmer; Los Angeles Fire Department, accepted by Chief Ralph Terrazas; Jonathan Gold, Restaurant Critic, Los Angeles Times; and Sam Nazarian, Founder & CEO, sbe.

"Our honorees represent the qualities that have made Los Angeles a dynamic city -- the determination of an Olympic athlete, the creativity of a gifted writer, the courage of our firefighters and the daring of an entrepreneur," said Jessica Lall, President & CEO of CCA. "Thank you to our sponsors for making it possible for us to fulfill our mission of advocating for a more vibrant Downtown Los Angeles."

Treasures of Los Angeles is CCA's signature event to celebrate the diversity, strength and excellence of our city. The event brought together more than a thousand of the region's business, political and civic leaders who have all worked together to build a city that is welcoming to all. Los Angeles City Council President Herb J. Wesson, Jr. served as emcee for the event, and Councilmembers Curren Price and José Huizar recognized the many elected and government officials who joined the luncheon. Mayor Eric Garcetti closed out the event by recognizing the contributions made to the city by the honorees.

Quotes from Honorees:

Janet Evans, Olympic Gold Medalist Swimmer: "It's a great honor for me to be named a Treasure of Los Angeles. The City of Angels has played a central role in my Olympic journey. This city is where my dreams of being an Olympian were born, and it's where I had the honor of helping bring back the Games to the US for the first time in a generation. I am beyond delighted to see what's in store for Los Angeles over the next decade as we prepare to welcome the world for the 2028 Games."

Chief Ralph Terrazas, Los Angeles Fire Department Chief: "I am extremely proud of the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department, who consistently validate my belief that a team of highly motivated people with a focused objective can achieve great success."

Sam Nazarian, Founder & CEO of sbe: "I'm honored and humbled to receive this prestigious award from CCA. Los Angeles is my hometown and the birthplace of sbe, my global lifestyle hospitality company, which now has 2 hotels, 22 restaurants, and 7 lounges throughout the city. Downtown Los Angeles plays an important role in sbe's future growth, including 2 hotel concepts set to open within one of the tallest buildings in the western US by 2024."
