Business leaders in the 21st Century need to empower others rather than act as solution providers. Cal State LA Downtown’s online Certificate Program in Leadership, beginning on September 12, is designed to foster leaders who seek more than authority and recognition from others. Its aim is to discover leadership skills within individuals, so they are able to develop others in reaching their full potential, thus helping organizations reach new milestones.
“Any person can lead,” says says Ron Glickman, CIO for Trader Joe’s Corporation and instructor for the Cal State LA program. “Leaders collaborate with others to achieve positive change. The best ones do so from their own unique strengths.”
As a change leader passionate about developing high potential talent, students in Glickman’s classes explore and develop a leadership style that is authentic, and encourages collaboration with others to create positive change in their lives, communities and workplaces. His dual focus on “performing while transforming” is the cornerstone of his leadership philosophy. Today, the ability to influence and enthuse, is a key attribute that leaders must have to achieve successful change. “Those are just some of the proficiencies that we try to hone in this program,” says Glickman.
