On Tuesday, CCA hosted the second installment of our Innovation in Industry series focused on highlighting the leadership and creativity coming from various industries affected by COVID-19. The panel featured leaders from LA's sports industry, which draws local fans and spectators from around the world to our city and plays a significant role in bolstering LA's economy and vibrancy. Martha Saucedo, Chief External Affairs Officer of AEG and CCA Boardmember, moderated the panel with Kathryn Schloessman, President and CEO of LA Sports and Entertainment Commission; Kelly Cheeseman, COO and Alternate Governor of the LA Kings and AEG Sports; Kevin Demoff, COO and EVP of Football Operators of the LA Rams; and Naomi Rodriguez, VP of External Affairs and Community Relations ofthe LA Dodgers.
The event started with Jessica Lall, President and CEO of CCA, opening up with how LA is home to the most sought-after sports and entertainment venues and events that enhance our city. Martha discussed the impact of COVID-19 on sports and ways that the sports community continue to provide world-class entertainment and act as community leaders. The panelists discussed the role of sports in our economy, how they continue creating fan experiences and how they are helping LA recover. Sports have transcended beyond providing entertainment and have become community centers, with Dodgers Stadium becoming a COVID-19 testing site and they and STAPLES Center becoming voting centers. The panel also discussed incredible collaboration among LA sports to fight for racial justice, and we are proud to see them foster positive change. Thank you to our panel and attendees for engaging in this conversation!
