LOS ANGELES (June 26, 2023) – Demonstrating the Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) business community’s support for the recently launched Regional Connector, the Central City Association of Los Angeles (CCA) today announced the launch of the #GoMetroPledge which enlists organizations and their employees to take at least 24 LA Metro rides by 2024.

The advocacy organization encouraged Downtown businesses and organizations to commit to the pledge to help ensure the success of the new service Metro launched on June 16. The Regional Connector not only improves rail connections throughout the region, but stands to boost visitation and economic activity in DTLA.

Pledge signers represent a broad swath of Downtown stakeholders, including major real estate companies like CBRE and Brookfield Properties; employers like California Hospital Medical Center and the University of Southern California; and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) like the Downtown Center BID and LA Fashion District.

“Downtown already plays an outsized role in the region’s economy, so safe and efficient public transportation to the city’s center is critical,” said CCA President and CEO Nella McOsker. “By taking the #GoMetroPledge, CCA and our members are supporting the Regional Connector and helping increase Metro ridership. We encourage people to take a trip on Metro to explore the shops, restaurants and arts, entertainment, cultural and historical venues that make DTLA the exciting, dynamic destination that it is.”

The Regional Connector’s 1.9 miles of new track make it possible for light rail trains to travel between Union Station and the busy 7th Street/Metro Center Station in Downtown without the need for transfers. Before the Regional Connector, only Metro’s heavy rail lines could make that journey.

DTLA is more accessible than ever before because of the Regional Connector’s three new stations that are within walking distance of Downtown’s commercial centers, medical facilities, restaurants and arts/cultural attractions.

“The new Historic Broadway Station makes it much easier for our employees and customers to travel to Grand Central Market,” said Justin Leyvas, general manager of Grand Central Market. “Signing the #GoMetroPledge gives us an opportunity to help ensure the Regional Connector’s success.”

Employers, nonprofit organizations and other entities interested in taking the #GoMetroPledge may do so on the CCA website. Those signing the pledge will also be asked to encourage riders to share their trips on social media with #GoMetroPledge and to track progress toward their commitments to take at least 24 rides by 2024.

CCA is promoting the #GoMetroPledge on its social media and encouraging people to use Metro and take advantage of the Regional Connector.
