LOS ANGELES (January 8, 2024)— 2024 marks CCA’s Centennial and the commencement of a yearlong celebration of Downtown Los Angeles’ (DTLA) premier advocacy organization. For 100 years, CCA has produced meaningful results for its members, Downtown and the greater LA area.
A signature part of CCA’s legacy is its development of adaptive reuse policies that helped transform DTLA from a sleepy office park into a world-class tourism destination and dynamic collection of neighborhoods. Building on that legacy, CCA is at the forefront of the next iteration of this policy to facilitate conversations—contributing to economic recovery, increased housing stock and improved seismic resilience in DTLA and the region.
“This milestone is a testament to the commitment CCA and its members have had to a vibrant DTLA since the organization’s inception,” said Nella McOsker, President & CEO of CCA. “This commitment is as strong as ever as we reimagine DTLA by building on our existing legacy and taking on our region’s most urgent issues.”
In honor of its Centennial CCA is updating its signature programming:
CCA Connects
Formerly known as Executive Member Meetings (EMM), CCA Connects are opportunities for Executive and Premier members to hear directly from some of the most prominent civic leaders in the region. Kicking off the first of the Centennial series is a CCA Connects featuring Attorney General Rob Bonta. Hosted at The Orpheum Theatre—another nearly 100-year LA institution. The first CCA Connects on January 18 will be open to all CCA members.
Policy Committees
Bolstering its existing committee structure, CCA is relaunching its Housing & Land Use Development (HLUD) and Transportation, Infrastructure & Energy (TIE) committees and launching the new Tourism & Economic Development (TED) committee—a byproduct of the RISE Initiative, a roadmap for Downtown economic recovery.
These committees are tasked with tackling the region’s most impactful projects and policies and will include a mix of both virtual and in-person meetings this year.
Centennial Treasures
In honor of the Centennial the 28th Annual Treasures of Los Angeles will have an updated format. Recognizing the past, present and future of CCA, Downtown and Los Angeles, Treasures will be celebrated on the evening of June 5 at an iconic 100-year old LA institution, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Centennial celebrations will continue throughout the calendar year with a culmination happening on October 3, the date that former Secretary of State Frank M. Jordan certified Downtown Association of Los Angeles’s Articles of Incorporation.
Since then, Downtown Association of Los Angeles, now known as CCA, has evolved from an all-male organization taking up traffic problems with the City Council to one with leadership emblematic of the diversity and dynamism of Los Angeles and advocacy that has demonstrated its power to change the face of DTLA.
