The Central City Association of Los Angeles (CCA) is pleased to see Governor Gavin Newsom issue an Executive Order establishing a four-day-per-week-in-office expectation for state employees. CCA has long advocated for sensible in-person work policies to be implemented at all levels of government, and we encourage local jurisdictions such as the City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles follow suit. Constituent services are best provided in person, but moreover, government employees are essential to an ecosystem like Downtown Los Angeles. These workers patronize local coffee shops, restaurants, retail, and other industries that rely on a steady daytime workforce. Their return will boost local businesses, enhance public safety, activate public spaces, and strengthen the overall vibrancy of Los Angeles’ Downtown area.
