CCA STATEMENT: Following Adjusted Curfew, CCA Urges Sustainable Safety and Economic Strategy in DTLA

LOS ANGELES (JUNE 16, 2025) – CCA PRESIDENT AND CEO NELLA MCOSKER ISSUED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO THE UPDATED CURFEW IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES:

Published Monday, June 16, 2025

We are encouraged to see city leadership respond to the complex needs of the business and residential community of Downtown. Our priority is ensuring DTLA is a safe, accessible, and welcoming for all who live, work, and visit here. This requires consistent, year-round investment in public safety measures such as increased foot patrols, improved lighting, and expanded mental health services. Without these essential supports, businesses cannot survive, and communities cannot thrive.

Equally important is a comprehensive economic development strategy – necessary since the COVID-19 pandemic – that helps small businesses, promotes job growth, and prepares Downtown for major upcoming global events. The City must act now with long-term plans that balance public safety and economic vitality by also establishing clear protocols to proactively manage unrest, ensuring Downtown stays open, stable, and thriving for the people who depend on it.
